Support for Conventions Held by Academic Societies, Social Organizations, and Other Non-profit Bodies.

Main Methods of Support

1. Provide information on convention venues and lodging accommodations.
2. Act as an intermediary for permission to use the name of the prefecture, city, chamber of commerce, etc., and for introductions to the governor, mayor, and president of the Chamber of Commerce, in addition to assisting with press releases.
3. Provide for the display of local specialties and provide a small souvenir shop.

4. • Provide sightseeing pamphlets (produced by the prefecture, city, etc.) and sponsorship for participants from outside the prefecture.

   • Provide the "Discount Coupons for Cultural and Sightseeing Facilities" booklet produced by the Convention and Visitors Bureau.

5. • Provide information and consultation on sightseeing tours

   • Provide information for attractions.

   • Provide information about facilities and local factories

6. Provide information on businesses dealing with displays, decorations, signs, printing, accommodations, trips, restaurants, boxed lunches, temporary employment agencies, etc,. in conjunction with holding a convention.
7. Provide information on volunteer interpreters for international conventions.
8. Other services:

   • Put up posters announcing the conference on taxi doors.

   • Issue taxi coupons.

   • Make arrangements for posters welcoming convention participants at the train station and/or around the downtown area.

Convention Subsidies

To help facilitate conventions, the Gifu Convention and Visitors Bureau has established a promotional funding program which extends financial support depending on the nature of the convention.

A. Available subsidies for conferences which are held for more than 2 days in Gifu City, and have 100 or more participants.

• We give a special additional subsidy depending on the number of participants arriving from overseas to attend the convention. 10,000 yen is provided per person. (Upper limit is 300,000 yen.)
• If your conference is held between the months of December and February, you will be provided with 1.5 times the amount of basic subsidies.

B. An object of subsidies for Small Scale Conferences (SSC) which are held for more than 2 days in Gifu City, have more than 20 and less than 100 participants, and have at least 10 foreign participants from overseas or 30% of the total participants.
