Conveniently located in Central Japan, the World Event and Convention Complex Gifu supports corporate events as well as non-commercial tours, events and conventions.
World Event and Convention Complex Gifu (WEC)
The World Event and Convention Complex Gifu (WEC) has four main facilities: the Nagaragawa Convention Center, Gifu Memorial Center, Mirai Hall and Nagaragawa Sports Plaza, all located near the banks of the Nagara River. Each of these facilities is within walking distance of each other. There is no other complex in the world with capacity for simultaneously hosting such a large number of conventions in one convenient venue.
This WEC Support Program offers lodging subsidies or assistance services under certain conditions to corporate/organizational sponsors who stay at hotels designated by the Gifu Convention and Visitors Bureau with over 30 people or who include in their group 15 or more participants from overseas.
Types of Tourism Conventions Subject to Support
- General Corporate Events
- In-house staff training, business meetings, recreations, sports camps, exhibitions, business association events, etc.
- Various Organizational Events
- In-house staff training, meetings for organization-related parties, seminars, lecture presentations, etc.
- Events for Educational Organizations
- Staff training for various school organizations, high school/collegiate extracurricular activities and sports camps, etc.
- Others
- Class reunions, group circles, club organizations, etc.
Types of Support Offered
- CASE:A
- Number 1-3 type of support (see below) is available for groups that have more than 30 participants staying at hotels or inns in Category A (members of Gifu Convention and Visitors Bureau; 37 facilities) (according to certain conditions and within budget means).

- Support is available for corporations/organizations with more than 15 participants from overseas.
- CASE:B
- Number 1-4 type of support (see below) is available for groups that have more than 30 participants staying at hotels or inns in Category B (associate members; 7 facilities), (according to certain conditions and within budget means).

1. Subsidy for Shuttle Buses
WEC offers a fare subsidy of up to 50,000 yen per bus for up to 2 buses when you hold conferences, training, and sports tournaments, etc., at the World Event and Convention Complex Gifu (4 facilities) and you run shuttle buses between the assigned places and the facility.

2. Subsidy for facility fees
WEC offers a facility use fee subsidy of up to 30,000 yen when you hold conferences, training, and sports tournaments, etc.., at the World Event and Convention Complex Gifu (4 facilities) .
3. Special Support for Overseas Corporations and Organizations
We offer special support listed below for corporations and organizations with over 15 participants from overseas staying at hotels designated by the Gifu Convention and Visitors Bureau.
- (1) Cormorant Fishing Explanation Provided by the Imperial Cormorant Fishing Master, Board of Ceremonies and Rituals, Imperial Household Agency (in English)

A 20 minute English explanation will be given at the World Event and Convention Complex Gifu or at the hotel lodging during cormorant fishing offseason, or directly after viewing cormorant fishing when in season.
- (2) Interpreter Volunteers

Two Japanese-English interpreter volunteers per 15 foreign participants will be made available. However, the maximum number of such interpreters will be limited to 10 for every firm/group, and translations will be only in relation to the facility being used and sightseeing within Gifu City.
4. Subsidies for Cormorant Fishing Viewing Boats and Chartered Tour Buses
- (1)Subsidies for Cormorant Fishing Viewing Boats
- A subsidy of 10,000 yen is available for 20-passenger cormorant fishing viewing boats. A subsidy of 20,000 yen is available for 30-50-passenger cormorant fishing viewing boats(up to a maximum of 5 boats).

- Please note that cormorant fishing season runs from May 11 to October 15.
- (2)Subsidies for Chartered Tour Buses
- WEC offers a charter fee subsidy of up to 50,000 yen per bus for up to 2 buses when you charter buses for sightseeing.
